Being an institutional leader demands constant creativity. The work is important, rewarding, and I derive a lot of pleasure from it. I believe my career as a leader is much enhanced by the fact that I am a practicing composer, performer, and educator, and I hope when I'm done I'll be able to look at a few institutions that are better because I had a role in shaping their futures.
