For symphony orchestra, solo percussion, chorus, and synthesizer
Commissioned and premiered by the Indian Hill Symphony Orchestra with Paul Gay conducting. This symphonic piece features an unusual combination of instrumental soloists, both great musicians and close friends: David Mash, on what was then the state of the art Kurzweil synthesizer; and Ray Frisby, who brought a highly unusual approach to the role of percussion soloist. To add to the mix of aural color, I was able to include the excellent Chamber Chorus from the University of Massachusetts. I wrote the text myself and I'm pretty sure there's not been a collection like this on stage before or since.
